Sri Lanka is to utilize hostile to flu sedate 'AVIGAN' on COVID-19 patients on an exploratory premise from one week from now, a senior Public authority said today.
Executive of the State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPC) Dr. Prasanna Gunasena disclosed to Daily Mirror that a load of 5,000 'AVIGAN' tablets would be given over to the SPC as a blessing from Japan and China tomorrow (31) to be given to COVID-19 patients on a preliminary premise.
"Nobody must take 'VIGAN' as an outright medication for the recuperation of the COVID-19 viral contamination. It is dependent upon the doctor to conclude whether to recommend the medication for the tainted patient. Additionally, this medication is utilized worldwide for Ebola viral contamination. In any case, the tablet can be recommended as a substitute medication for COVID-19," Dr. Gunasena said.
Dr. Gunasena included that the transfer of 5,000 medications is given by Japan and China as a blessing to Sri Lanka from the two nations with the endorsement of Health Minister Pavithra Wanniarachchi.
