3. Go turtle watching
The beaches of Rekawa and Kahandamodara are growing place for turtle watching beach, situated some 10km east of the town. The turtles struggle ashore at night to lay their eggs between April to September in the year.

Tangelle is known to have popular spots for for seafood and other treats. Your local hotel or tour guide can recommend the best places to eat outside of your stay if you like to eat like a local. Another must have while in Tangalle is the fresh curd with treacle.

5. Break away to the wildlife parks
If you are looking to leave the beach and experience the wildlife, this location has easy access to the country’s most popular national parks. The Yala national park popular for leopards and sloth bears is just 1.5 hours away, Udawalawe which is popoular for elephants is around 1 hour away, and Bundala national park popular for the greater flamingos is only 40 minutes away from Tangalle.
