TOP CHOICE IN MIRISSA - No1 Dewmini Roti Shop
The original and still the best local rotti shop. It also makes kotthu(rotti chopped up and mixed with vegies) and delicious, more substantial rice-and-curry-style dishes. The ever-smiling chef and owner also offers cooking classes (Rs 2000 for six curries). It's 350m north of the coastal highway.
TOP CHOICE BEACH IN MIRISSA - Mirissa Beach
A vision of tropical bliss, Mirissa Beach boasts powdery pale sand, while its azure water is framed by an arc of coconut palms. The west side is the nicest and has the broadest expanse of sand; as the bay curves gently around to the east it meets up with the roar of the Galle–Matara Rd. Close to the centre of Mirissa bay is a much-photographed sandbar that connects to a tiny island that you can walk to at low tide.
BAR IN MIRISSA - Zephyr Restaurant & Bar
One of the coolest beach hang-outs, Zephyr offers a cosmopolitan ambience thanks to well-selected lounge tunes. Later on, expect live music or a DJ, dancing in the sand and a party vibe. It also has a full menu, though portions are small and you can expect to wait a while.
INTERNATIONAL IN MIRISSA - Papa Mango
This restaurant has a prime beachfront location on the east side of Mirissa with tables dotted around a large garden shaded by palms. The menu takes in seafood, local curries and Western dishes and it regularly hosts parties with live bands and DJs.
