Colombo ; Sri Lanka Police issued new guidelines for vendors conducting door to door mobile sales and delivery of essential goods, such as dry rations, vegetables, and fruits.
Police Media Spokesman SP Jaliya Senaratne said, vendors engaging in mobile sales of essential items must wear gloves and disposable face masks or cover their faces, wear fully covered shoes and clean clothes, and continuously use hand sanitizers or disinfectants when engaging in sales.
Vendors engaged in the sale and delivery of bakery items must refrain from touching the goods, use equipment to hand over goods, and use paper bags or paper to wrap the bakery items.
With regard to money transactions, the vendors have been requested to refrain from touching food items after exchanging money with consumers.
Meanwhile, consumers have been requested to wear face masks and maintain a distance of one meter from the vehicle selling essential goods.
They have also been instructed to refrain from touching essential goods, especially vegetables and fruits.
The curfew passes of vendors who fail to comply with the guidelines will be canceled, while Health and other relevant officials will take necessary action against them in the future.
