President Maithripala Sirisena said that it is quite amusing to see that, the persons who say they haven't obtained membership of the new party in media discussions asking the public to vote for another party and not the S.L.F.P. He asked everyone to engage in politics according to their conscience.
The President stated this addressing a public meeting held on today (14) at Homagama.
The president who said that the secretary and the president of the newly established party are former ministers of S.L.F.P as well as the ones who held prestigious positions in the former government and they are engaging in the second assassination of S W R D Bandaranaike.
The president further stated that today the ones who claims that they cannot operate without the photographs of Mr Bandaranaike and Mrs Bandaranaike are the ones who advised to change the agenda of The Central Committee of the SLFP when it stated ‘In memory of Mr. Bandaranaike’ to ‘In memory of the past members’.
The president who further addressing the rally said that he would take further steps to deprive the country out of various frauds and corruption keeping the fullest confidence in the public.
Tobacco companies and mega corporations were angry with him when he was the minister of health as he had taken stern decisions in the interest of the people in the country and drug dealers are also against him because of his drug prevention programs, he said and added that it is not an easy task to appoint commissions against fraud and corruption too because on interested parties.
However, the public has kept their trust on him and that with the public he expects to continue his work winning the hearts of the people, the President, said.
The first public rally held in Homagma to establish the victory of the SLFP candidates contesting in the Colombo district and a massive crowd attended the meeting.
Minister Susil Peajayantha, State Minister A.H.M. Fauzie, Deputy Speaker Thilanga Sumathipala, Western Province Chief Minister, Isura Devapriya, SLFP Homagma Provincial Councilors Gamini Thilakasiri, Weerakumara Dissanayake, Kotte former Mayor Janaka Ranwaka were among the gathering.
