President Maithripala Sirisena said that the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) comes forward victoriously as the patriotic movement of all the people, without any difference in race or religion.a
The President stated this addressing a public meeting held in Ampara, yesterday (05) to ensure the victory of the candidates of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) of Ampara district.
A large crowd gathered at this event held in Ampara municipal council ground, irrespective of racial and ethnic barriers, where the President received a warm welcome from participants.
The President said that the programme for building reconciliation among people, fulfilling the responsibilities that were not fulfilled in the post war era is being successfully accomplished and that he is dedicated towards fulfilling the real development, which was denied to the people by the former leaders and people could not achieve until now.
It is the SLFP that accomplished the historical movement of the decade with togetherness, our culture and our identity and within that a huge societal, economical and political transition took place and even today it is his duty to make that socio-economic and political transformation that is essential to the country, said the President.
Ampara district organizer for SLFP and State minister, Sriyani Wijewickrama, Governor of the Northern Province, Reginald Cooray, Governor of Eastern Province, Rohitha Bogollagama, Weerakumara Dissanayake, former Ampara Urban Council (AUC) chairman, Indika Naleen Jayavikrama, Keerthi Weerasinghe, Mahendra Perera, Bandula Sarath Kumara, Nipuna Soysa, Ariyarathna Wijewickrama, Vipula Rathnayake, and other SLFP organizers joined this event.
After the public meeting, the President visited the Mandala Maha Viharaya Ampara and handed over the deeds of the temple lands to Ven. Suhadagama Seelarathana Thero, Chief Incumbent of the temple.
