The Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe will participate in the World Congress on Information Technology to be held in Hyderabad from February 19-21. It is being organised by Nasscom, World Information Technology and Services Alliance and the Telangana state government.
IT minister K T Rama Rao said President Ramnath Kovind would be invited for the closing ceremony.
The minister reviewed the arrangements for the global event in which 2,500 people from 30 countries are expected to participate. A Nasscom delegation comprising R Chandrasekhar, president Nasscom, BVR Mohan Reddy, founder & executive Chairman, Cyient Limited and CP Gurnani, managing director and CEO, Tech Mahindra Ltd. met minister KTR. The minister said that all the state government agencies were already geared up to ensure smooth conduct of WCIT. The Nasscom leadership gave an overview of the Conference and explained the preparatory work underway for WCIT.
While Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been invited as chief guest for the programme, a confirmation from the PMO is awaited. Apart from the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, Union minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, ministers from Canada, China, Armenia, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan will participate in WCIT. A host of top-level executives from IT industry across the globe would also attend the event.
