There was no official confirmation of the identity of the Sri Lankan woman and the Sri Lanka's Foreign Affairs Ministry said they have no information on any Sri Lankans killed in the attack.
However the Chief Incumbent of the Toronto Buddhist Temple, Ven. Ahangama Rathnasiri Thero stated that the deceased Sri Lankan woman was a resident of Horana.
The Thera also said that the single mother of a seven-year-old child worked and raised the child after her husband left her before the birth of the child.
She has been a patron of the Temple for over 15 years, the Chief Incumbent said.
The Thera added that the victim had already obtained the Canadian citizenship and therefore had discussions with the patrons of the Temple on funeral arrangements.
